Council Member: Robert Honan - Executive Director
I began work as the director of the SILC in November 2006, moving from Missouri in the process. While some may see this as a radical change, I did not. I see that people are the same wherever they live- they have the same needs and wants and desires, especially in the disability community. I also saw this as an opportunity to expose myself and my family to a different environment. So far, Washington has been wonderful for me. I look forward to the many challenges that face me and the disability community here in this state.
I have been involved in the disability rights movement for over 15 years as a participant of CIL services, a board member, and a director of a CIL in Missouri. "I truly believe that individuals with disabilities and their families benefit from the advocacy and the services provided by Centers for Independent Living."
